Course Information

Mining Engineering discipline is the extraction of minerals from underneath, above or on the ground. Mining engineering is associated with Professional Practice such as mineral processing, exploration, excavation, geology and surveying.

The exploration of natural resources through mining activities have become increasingly important for countries like India, which depends on natural resources for their rising energy needs. For this reason, mining engineers are in huge demand in both India and abroad. Mining industry is playing a major role in contributing to the GDP of India. Mining engineers are required to have multiple skills that majorly include good problem-solving techniques.

Both Male and Female Candidates are eligible for admission to this program. Program is designed to equip students with both technical knowledge and management skills for a variety of mining operations. It also includes courses on mine management legislation and safety. It covers the details related to mining methodology, ventilation, mining machineries, surveying, mineral processing and fuel technology , underground mining (coal & metal), surface mining (coal & metal),mine and mineral economics are also included in the course curriculum.

Future Prospects

After completion of Diploma in Mining Engineering the students may go for higher studies (B.Tech, M.Tech, etc) or they can make their carrier in any industry in statutory posts such as:

1. Mine Foreman/Overman in Mining industries.
2. Project Assistant CIMFR, NIRM etc.
3. Marketing and Servicing Engineers in explosive and machinery manufacturing companies.
4. Permit managers in Small Scale mining.
5. Assistant to consultants on excavation, survey, preparation of mine plans, beneficiation, etc.
6. Mining Inspector in government departments.
